ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR TEACHING POSITIONS
• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• 12 units in Early Childhood Education
PRESCHOOL TEACHERS AND HEAD TEACHERS
The State of California requires all qualified teachers working with preschool age children to complete 12 units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education. Toddler teachers must have at least 3 Infant/Toddler units included in this 12-unit requirement. To be considered for a position you must have completed 6 units in Child Development, and commit to enrolling in at least 2 units per semester until 12 units of Child Development are completed.
KINDERGARTEN/GRADE SCHOOL TEACHERS AND HEAD TEACHERS
The State of California requires all qualifed teachers working with Kind/ Grade School children to complete 12 units in the following areas – Child Development, Recreation Major or Physical Education Major classes relevant to elementary school age children, units earned towards an elementary teaching credential or school designated courses for directors and teachers appropriate to elementary school age children.
