Benefits of Preschool and Kindergarten preparedness
Effective preschool programs capitalize on a time when children’s brains are rapidly developing, laying a foundation of social skills, knowledge and self confidence that paves the way for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Children who go to effective preschool are:

Below are some of the criteria for a typical, child attending Kindergarten to continue on in their schooling success:
- Student knows names of shapes and colors
- Student knows alphabet letters and sounds
- Student recognizes and writes own name
- Student can distinguish upper and lower case letters and knows sounds associated with each letter
- Student can make a one-to-one correspondance, moving finger with object
- Student can use scissors effectively
- Student can count to 10, then to 30
- Student can write numbers
Social and Emotional Development play a large role in Kindergarten preparedness. Below are some of the key components in successful peer and teacher interaction among typical children at the Kindergarten level:
- Plays with other children
- Follows simple directions
- Expresses feelings and needs
- Uses the restroom by him/herself
- Can spend time away from mom or dad without getting emotional
