Gong hei fat choy! Which translates to "wishing you great happiness and prosperity!" We learned it is common to say this to one another during the Chinese New Year. We also learned that this year's Chinese Zodiac animal is the Pig. We learned that being born in the Pig year means that they'll have a beautiful personality and will be blessed with good fortune in life. Each child got to see which Zodiac animal they were too. Along with celebrating the Chinese New Year, we celebrated with one of our favorite activity which requires us to try eating steam white rice with chopsticks. The kids loved that! Although at times it was hard trying to eat with two sticks, some got it while others struggled to only end up eating with one stick. We were so excited to be able to introduce a new culture and tradition in celebrating the new year! |
