Visiting one of our schools on a winter day morning last week, we found many activities taking place at the warmth of our centers. Children were engaged in a range of fun enriching activities. Puzzles and Lego blocks were brought into play; the computer corner had teachers supporting the learning of children while engaging in meaningful discussions; in the dramatic play corner, costumes were taken out of the boxes to assist children in taking on imaginary roles; a group of children investigating “snow and ice” built an igloo using salt to glue the ice blocks and talking about the Eskimos who inhibit the ice cold habitat. A nice warm atmosphere indoor when the outdoors is too cold to play in. |
