Everyone thinks about Pilgrims during the weeks before Thanksgiving and that is no different with our lessons. We learned about the Pilgrims leaving England, sailing across the sea on the Mayflower and landing at Plymouth Rock. We talked a great deal about how these early Pilgrims made friends with the Indians that already lived here and that will lead us into next weeks discussion on Thanksgiving. We also spoke about the chores that the Pilgrim children had long ago and how different it is from the chores our kids do today. One activity that the kids enjoyed was learning how to make butter from scratch by shaking, shaking, shaking the ingredients, the way that the pilgrims did. While making it was a fun experience, their favorite part was eating the butter on some yummy crackers! |
