Summer blast took off and one of our schools headed this morning towards Wiebe Farm. This was a new experience for our children and ended up being a fun educational exposure to agriculture.
At the sight, children were divided into groups and rotated between four learning stations.
The kids loved shopping at the country store using dollar bills they received at the school. They enjoyed using the money to purchase surprises. While at the store, children and staff enjoyed the most delicious peaches and peach muffins! We had fun participating just like farm kids, in a peach pit chucking contest. A trailer ride through the orchard helped children learn the process of pruning and picking the fruit. Another exciting experience was climbing into an actual barn and sitting over hay bales, while watching a video describing the history of the farm. Yes! This was a good start for the summer and children are already anticipating more to come. |
