Whether our kids like to see a fish on their dinner plate or not, they all got to enjoy a taste of life as a fish at the River Parkway.
We started our adventure at a fish hatchery where the children learned about the life cycle of a fish. The excitement peeked once our grade-schoolers became fish’s best friends during feeding time; the fish jumped and splashed around as the kids happily dispensed food into the water. Once we arrived at the beautifully preserved River Parkway Center, the children were engaged in a variety of fun learning activities. Starting with a scavenger hunt, the students explored the historic house on the bank of the San Joaquin River, and discovered what life as a farmer/fisherman was like over a hundred years ago. Then during an elaborate game of ‘catch the salmon’, the children discovered that life as a salmon is not easy either. Exploring fish through arts and crafts, games and tours, today was another well rounded adventure for the kids of Kids Kare Summer Blast. |
