Today is Columbus Day! Columbus Day is celebrated in the USA on the second Monday in October. It celebrates Christopher Columbus' trip from Spain to North America in 1492. Preschool children at Kids Kare Schools learn about his ships: the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. These ships moved by the wind blowing on their sails. We demonstrate this by letting each child blow a boat in a pan of water. Children put on explorers hats and “hunt” for new lands through their own self made telescopes. |
