A Little Bit of American History

Our first focus was on President Lincoln and the red, white and blue in the American flag.  We learned about his humble beginnings as well as why Lincoln was important to the nation's history.  The kids were able to make their own log cabins as well as their own American flags.  Our toddlers and 2 year olds got into the action with lots of red, white and blue activities too!  We then turned our attention to George Washington, the very frist president of the United States.  With the lessons on him, we focused heavily on what it means to be a president and a good leader.  We read stories and played games where everyone was able to lead their classmates in order to better understand how hard it is to be a true leader.  We also learned about money during these weeks as the children matched up and sorting coins with both Lincoln and Washingtons' pictures on them!
