During our science lesson this week, we're learning how caterpillars form into butterflies. We first observe the caterpillars in a cup. During this experiment we bring out our magnifying glasses. We noticed that in just a couple of days they're now hanging in their cocoon. The caterpillars shed off their old skin and create a shell to protect them from enemies, their shell is called chrysalis. Then, shortly after that we transfer the cocoons into the new butterfly habitat and wait for them to break out of their shell. What could they possibly turn into? A butterfly! Once we felt that the butterfliew were strong enough, we then released them outside. Such a fun science experiment!
